9:30am               Tap Dancing on Marbles: Leadership, Organizational Stewardship, and Institutional Sustainability
School leadership is hard work. Serving as both a leader and an institutional steward is much harder. It is like tap dancing on marbles. This interactive session will explore the intersection of leadership, stewardship, and organizational sustainability. Participants will have an opportunity to work together to explore topics including the evolution of mission, alignment of resources and strategic direction, and leveraging institutional capacity to promote organizational sustainability. We will also pull forward threads from the change management workshop on Tuesday morning.

Leading as a steward requires self-awareness, vision, humility, drive, restraint, mindfulness, savvy, and agility. It is a lot to ask of any one person. We will therefore also lean into what Dr. Jerome Murphy describes as “the pain of leadership” and its impact on heads when serving as stewards of the school for which they have been entrusted.
