Speaker Bios
 
 

Dr. Krishauna Hines-Gaither serves as the Associate Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. She taught Spanish and (Afro) Latin American Studies for almost 20 years and studied French. She is the Past President of the Foreign Language Association of North Carolina, past chair of the Special Interest Group for Educators of African American Students with the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). Dr. Hines-Gaither co-founded African American Linguists  in 2004, an organization dedicated to promoting languages amongst African Americans. African-American Linguists has awarded over $20,000 in scholarships to African American students. She was named the 2013 World Language Teacher of the Year in Higher Education by the Foreign Language Association of North Carolina. She currently serves on ACTFL's Bylaws Committee, and is a language fellow and consultant with the American Councils for International Education. Dr. Hines-Gaither has published on Anti-Racism in World Languages, Afro-Latinx and Afro-Francophone pedagogy, and much more. She offers dynamic, engaging and results-driven workshops, presentations and keynotes on a range of topics and across disciplines. She is the owner of Hines-Gaither Consulting, LLC., a firm that is dedicated to supporting and promoting inclusion. Madame Probst was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow at Campbell University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in French Language. Madame Probst grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and currently resides in Fuquay-Varina with her husband, her two sons, and her crazy dog. Teaching the French language to adolescents is Madame Probst's passion.

 

 

 

 

 

Madame Folger holds a B.Ed. degree in French from the University of Toledo (Ohio) and an M.A. degree in French Language and Literature from North Carolina State University. She has taught all levels of French from Exploratory through AP, and has led many student trips abroad. Originally from the Upper Midwest, she now resides in Apex with her husband, 2 children and entirely too many pets. 

 

 

 

 

Dawn Samples is the Director for Professional Learning for Avant MORE Learning. She works with teachers and colleagues in the field of world languages, immersion and assessment to provide learning professional learning opportunities that will support strong instructional practices and increase proficiency levels for language learners.  Prior to coming to Avant Assessment, she was the Coordinator for World Languages and Immersion for 16 years in Lexington School District One in Lexington, SC where she worked to create a performance-based and proficiency-driven language program. The innovative practices in Lexington led the program to national recognition and awards for excellence in world language and immersion practices.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Nick Gossett
Higher Ed Specialist and Regional Account Manager
Dr. Nick Gossett is a Regional Account Manager and Higher Ed Specialist at Avant Assessment. Nick has an in-depth knowledge of Avant’s tests and assessment in general, having previously worked in test development. Aside from his content development experience, he has over a decade of experience working in higher ed where he has been a professor of Russian and Applied Linguistics, a program director, and an assessment coordinator. Nick has previously served as the Advocacy Chair for the Alabama World Languages Association, worked on the State of Alabama Course of Study Committee for World Languages, and currently serves as the President of the Alabama World Languages Education Foundation. Passionate about study abroad, he has led programs to Russia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, and Poland. When not working, Nick enjoys spending time in his second home of Moscow and traveling with his wife and daughter throughout Eastern Europe.
