Leading-edge Educational Opportunities
A core commitment of NCAIS is to offer relevant and intentional professional development opportunities to NCAIS constituents.  We have a variety of single-day workshops and multi-day conferences.  We invite you to explore our current schedule of events.

Community of Colleagues
We are better together!  NCAIS cultivates community and welcomes suggestions for expanding this effort.  Opportunities include monthly cohort virtual meetings, NCAIS Connect Community Forums, the Teacher-to-Teacher program, and our Women in Leadership collaboration.

Legislative Advocacy
Legislative advocacy is a growing area of focus for NCAIS and its member schools. The various educational choices available to families in NC - public, traditional private, charter, and home schools - combined with increased options through state voucher programs, create a complicated landscape. NCAIS works at the State level to protect the rights of independent schools to be self-governing, mission-driven organizations free from governmental intrusion.  NCAIS works, both independently and through our legislative lobbyists, to promote independent school issues and increase State lawmakers’ understanding of independent school legislative needs.

School Leadership and Governance
NCAIS offers both educational programming and customized consulting for heads of school and boards. From our Fall trustee workshops to our Annual Conference for Heads, Trustees and CFOs, NCAIS works to anticipate and address the needs of high level school leaders.  NCAIS is also available to provide:

  • Virtual workshops focused on best practices and good governance
  • Support for heads and boards of trustees with leadership transitions and/or searches
  • Strategic planning guidance and resources
  • Accreditation support
  • Specialized workshops on independent school trends and issues or other topics as needed

Partnerships and Resources
By establishing economies of scale in the marketplace, NCAIS is able to offer a variety of programs and services that schools may not be able to access otherwise.  Many of these programs offer higher levels of benefits and risk management while also saving schools money.  NCAIS has identified and vetted key resources that contribute to the success, sustainability, and safety of our schools.  The providers of these resources work in conjunction with NCAIS to bring exceptional value, customer service, and cost savings to NCAIS members.  Schools are encouraged to explore these resources and contact the representatives for additional information.
