Student Events

The NCAIS Honor Band is an annual event that brings together talented Middle and Upper School musicians from independent schools across North Carolina for an inspiring and collaborative experience. Hosted at rotating colleges and universities throughout the state, this two-day event offers students the opportunity to work with distinguished clinicians, refine their musical skills, and perform in a culminating concert.

Students participate in intensive rehearsals, connect with peers from other schools, and experience the atmosphere of a collegiate music setting. The event concludes with a final concert showcasing their dedication and musical growth.

The NCAIS Honors Chorus brings together outstanding Middle and Upper School vocalists from independent schools across North Carolina for a dynamic and enriching choral experience. Held at different colleges and universities each year, this event allows students to work with esteemed choral directors, explore challenging repertoire, and grow as musicians.

Over two days of focused rehearsals, singers will develop their vocal artistry while building connections with fellow musicians. The event culminates in a final performance, highlighting their dedication and musical achievement.

Words Matter Conference

Our theme for this event is "Words Matter Conference: Joy and Courage through Community Storytelling.” The words we choose shape the way we see ourselves, connect with others, and build our communities. Words Matter is an engaging, interactive conference designed for faculty, staff, and middle and high school students to explore how language influences relationships, classroom dynamics, and society. This conference aims to support NCAIS schools as they work to be courageous and unified, and to consider the impact of words and stories in their communities.

As has been our custom, this event has a faculty/staff track, an Upper School student track, and a Middle School student track.
