Expectations of Membership

Information Reporting

All NCAIS schools will support the efforts of the Association to better serve schools by:

  • Designating an employee to work with NCAIS staff, throughout the school year, to update faculty and administrator directory contact information.
  • Notifying NCAIS immediately regarding any change in head’s employment with the school and providing contact information for the interim head, board chair, search committee chair, or search consultant.
  • Notifying NCAIS immediately of any change in school’s accreditation status.
  • Completing the NAIS DASL annual operational survey including the NCAIS supplement.
  • Complying in a timely fashion with any member surveys intended to measure satisfaction, assess program priorities, or gather other information that would be useful to the association and membership.
Association Involvement

All NCAIS schools will support the efforts of the Association to better serve schools by:

  • Paying annual dues in a timely manner.
  • Head of School’s active participation in NCAIS events, especially the NCAIS School Leadership Conference, held each year in January.
  • Supporting NCAIS professional learning opportunities by:
    • Publicizing and promoting the NCAIS event calendar and encouraging school’s faculty and staff to attend relevant events to the extent that a school’s professional development budget allows.
    • Providing feedback on the value of NCAIS professional learning events.
    • Suggesting relevant and timely topics and speakers for events.
    • Making every effort to host an event when asked provided said school has the space capacity and resources required.
    • Checking with NCAIS before scheduling an event on campus that involves 3 or more NCAIS schools so as to avoid a conflict or duplication of effort.
    • Contact state and national legislators as requested by NCAIS to advocate on matters impacting the independence of our schools.
Interactions Between Member Schools

As colleagues, leaders at member schools are expected to engage with each other in a spirit of honesty, respect, trust, integrity, and collaboration.  NCAIS encourages purposeful review and discussion of the NAIS Principles of Good Practice, both within each school and between schools, in order to raise the awareness and incorporation of these well-vetted and widely-accepted guidelines.
