Professional Bio
Harrison Stuart joined Canterbury School as Head of School in 2021. Located in Greensboro, North Carolina, Canterbury is the Triad’s only independent Episcopal school serving students from preschool through eighth grade. Canterbury’s dedicated faculty, strong academic foundation, and focus on servant leadership shape an intentional learning experience that helps students grow in confidence and integrity as they prepare for success in high school and beyond.
A proven educational leader with experience spanning the classroom, admissions, advancement, enrollment management, and school leadership with roles at Episcopal School of Knoxville, Woodberry Forest School, and Episcopal School of Nashville. During his tenure at Canterbury, Stuart has strengthened enrollment, reduced attrition, advanced a comprehensive strategic plan, and further elevated the school’s reputation as one of the region’s premier independent schools. He is passionate about the transformative impact of a preschool–8 education, believing these formative years provide the foundation for lifelong learning, leadership, and service.
A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Stuart graduated from Woodberry Forest School and Hampden-Sydney College. He earned a Master of Education in Nonprofit Leadership from Belmont University and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees at Kieve-Wavus Education in Nobleboro, Maine.
Harrison and his wife, Katherine, president of an independent school consulting firm, are the proud parents of four Canterbury students and alumni: Teddy ('23), Jack ('25), Lillian ('28), and Kate ('28). The family enjoys hiking, camping, travelling, and spending time together.
