Surviving and Thriving in Challenging Times
Robert Evans, Ed.D.

Long before the pandemic, life in schools had grown ever more complex. The years since 2020 have intensified the pressures of coping with students’ needs and behavior, parents’ anxiety and entitlement, and teachers’ frustrations—all this amidst the nation’s rising political toxicity and declining civility. How can school leaders preserve and strengthen their schools—and themselves? Rob Evans will outline practical ways to cope.

Rob is a psychologist, a former high school and pre-school teacher, and a former child and family therapist. He has consulted to more than 1,800 schools, including many in NCAIS. His most recent book, co-authored with Michael Thompson, is Hopes and Fears: Strengthening the Relationship with Today’s Independent School Parents. His presentations are known for their lively wit and plain talk.
