Sports Gambling Exposed

Sports gambling has become a pervasive issue in schools, with millions of students exposed to the dangers of predatory sportsbooks. As these betting markets grow more sophisticated, it’s crucial to equip students with the tools to recognize and resist their influence. The best way to protect our students is to help them understand that sportsbooks are businesses designed to take advantage of them.

In this webinar, Arty Smith, founder of the Gambling Awareness Initiative, will show educators how to use simple, accessible tools—rooted in data and critical thinking—to reveal the true nature of sports betting. Participants will explore the psychological biases that influence gambling behavior, understand the odds behind betting, and learn how to communicate these concepts to students in an engaging, approachable way. This session will provide actionable strategies for fostering responsible decision-making and empowering students to navigate the complex world of sports gambling.

This webinar is ideal for middle and upper school educators who want to better understand student gambling and learn how to engage in effective conversations with students about it.
