The Southeast Commission of Independent Schools Announces New Strategic Vision and Member Expansion
Dawsonville, GA — The Southeast Commission of Independent Schools (SECIS), a regional partnership uniting the independent school associations of Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Alabama, announces a new strategic vision with member expansion, marking a significant step forward in increased academic and athletic opportunities for students across the Southeast and deepening collaboration among independent schools throughout the region.
Established in January 2016, SECIS was created to bring together many of the Southeast’s most accomplished student athletes for high-quality academic and athletic competition. The organization supports its member state associations by providing leadership and coordination for interscholastic activities that promote academic excellence, sportsmanship, and regional cooperation. Through SECIS events, student-athletes gain opportunities to compete at a higher level, build meaningful connections with peers from neighboring states, and receive greater recognition as they pursue their passions.
Beyond student programming, SECIS serves as a professional alliance for association leaders who share common interests and challenges in independent education. Regular collaboration among representatives provides a valuable forum for discussing emerging issues, exchanging expertise, and identifying shared solutions. The five associations' similar missions, structures, and goals make SECIS a natural and effective partnership.
SECIS remains committed to strengthening regional collaboration and expanding meaningful opportunities that enrich the educational experience for independent school students across the Southeast.
